Today I turned 17 for the third time in 51 years and it all started out pretty great! I weighed in at the lightest I’ve been in 16 months. Happy birthday to me! I only wish that the weight loss was from working out. Unfortunately, last weekend I had an allergy attack from the high pollen count and it left me with a sinus infection. Monday was so horrible that I had to call in sick. I was able to find some antibiotics and all the other medications that go along with having the crud. By Tuesday morning, I was workable, and each day since I have been getting better. The side effect of taking all of that medication is not being that hungry. Yay for me! Good news though. I got that shot in my foot last Friday so it looks like my excuse to not workout is finally about to be a recent history. So after this weekend I’m going to give it a go. A real effort to make the trip back to some semblance of better physical health. Yep! I haven’t quite decided which program I’m going to try but it’s going to happen.
So I have some thinking to do, and I don’t want to make the wrong choice and set myself up for failure. I’ll have to start out a bit slower than my mind wants to go. It’s not going to be easy but I have the drive to do it. And since it’s my birthday, I’m going to make my wish. I wish for success. Success for everyone who wants to make a change for the better. Better for themselves. Better for the people they love. And better for the world. In my life I have learned that not much changes over night. In fact real change takes time and hard work. And if I decide to make small incremental changes, the transformation will happen and it will have a much better chance at being successful. So cheers to all of you who want to make a change for the better. I’ll be here struggling with you.
For now I’ll leave you with these birthday song lyrics by The Beatles.
They say it’s your birthday
Well, it’s my birthday too, yeah
They say it’s your birthday
We’re gonna have a good time
I’m glad it’s your birthday
Happy birthday to you!
