When I saw that Shaun T had pants on in Upper Focus I have to admit I said, “Uh oh!” Upper Body, or I should say arms, is historically my weakest muscle group. But by the end of the workout, I was happy with how the exercises were spread out over the entire upper body. Good for everything, not super heavy on the arms. After Upper Focus was Core Cardio. This is a good workout. I can tell after finishing the first week of Beta Phase, I know why they call this the Core Phase. I have never felt more solid in my core. I can’t imagine how I am going to feel after another 4 weeks of this! I didn’t get to do any interval training with TriCore but I am hoping I can put in some time on the EVOcx tomorrow.

I did get some swimming in with the kids, so that is good. Tomorrow will be a good day for a little BowSwim time. I had been holding of on the swimming because of the spasm in my shoulder, but it felt great today doing the upper body work, so stretching and a swim sounds fantastic as well!

Focus T25 Day 39 of 70 – Beta Phase – August 1, 2013

Dynamic Core workout snuck up on me. This one definitely works your core. I am really liking the Beta Phase. We’ll see if I still have that attitude after my double tomorrow. It was nice to get out on my bike today. I wasn’t pushing the pace, but I did hook up with a pack of cyclists mid way into the ride and that was fun. They were moving along at a pretty good click! I still need to work on my climbing. I am thinking I’ll be getting onto my EVOcx tomorrow and do some interval training with TriCore .

Focus T25 Day 38 of 70 – July 31, 2013

Focus T25 Day 38 of 70 – Beta Phase – July 31, 2013

Today’s workout brought in the resistance bands. With the speed of transition between exercises, the use of dumbbells may be the smarter play here. Even though I really like the resistance bands, for workouts in general, I didn’t feel like I got as good of workout as I could have. I’ll keep using the bands for next week. Now that I know what to expect I may be able to better utilize this piece of equipment. As far as my nutrition, I ate good but probably not enough calories. The workout wasn’t a big burner for me so I shouldn’t drop too much weight for tomorrow’s weigh-in. I want to stay around 165 for USAT Nationals next weekend so my challenge is going to be making sure that I eat enough carbohydrates without gaining too much weight.

Focus T25 Day 37 of 70 – July 30, 2013

Focus T25 Day 37 of 70 – Beta Phase – July 30, 2013

Speed 2.0 is awesome. Fast and deliberate! Love it! My real highlight however was watching my kids climb today. They did so great! Addison (my Daughter) climbed a route she had never climbed before, and owned it. Davis (my Son), with this being his second day at the climbing gym, is doing awesome. His confidence is getting better and is able to get up and down the boulder on his own. Here is a pic of them both!

First day of Focus T25 Beta Phase. Right away you are in it and keeps it going for 25 minutes. The movements are different so I’ll bet money I’ll be a little sore tomorrow. Tomorrow is Speed 2.0 so I can wait to see what that is going to be like! I loved Speed 1.0! Two days of eating good and I feel great! It really is amazing the difference you feel when you eat better!

Dinner: Sushi (Nigiri, Assorted Fresh Rolls, Cucumber Salad)

Hot day today. Even though the thermometer didn’t go super high, it just felt hotter. So of course I went for a ride during the hottest part 🙂 ! I couldn’t find my Halo Headband so it wasn’t long before the stinging sweat started to hit my eyes – not very comfortable (or safe :-\ ), felt good to get out on the bike though – good saddle time – two short rides. So I wanted to eat better today and I did. I had a couple Shakeology shakes, some supplements, and Sushi! My recommendation on eating sushi? Sashimi, Nigiri, Fresh Rolls, and Vegetables in Rice Vinegar. Stay away from the fried rolls when possible. The meal will be high in sodium when eating rolls or dipping into the soy sauce with wasabi, so expect to retain some water, but all in all it was a healthy day!

Starting Beta Phase of Focus T25 tomorrow! Pretty excited to see what’s in store! Time to hit my rumble roller!

Focus T25 Day 34 of 70 – July 27, 2013

Post-Workout: P90X Results & Recovery Formula

Dinner: 2 Chicken Verde Soft Tacos, Hot Dog with Mustard, Popcorn, Orange Sorbet and Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

Good amount of physical activity today. I haven’t been eating the best but the activity is taking care of some of that. Only two weeks till USAT Nationals so the nutrition will be key over the next 13 Days. Lets see how I keep it under control.

Another thing that I can’t stress the importance of is recovery which includes nutrition, stretching, and myofascial release. In order to make sure that I am taking care of my muscles, joints, tendons, I use supplements that prepare my body and replenish my body with essential vitamins, minerals, sugars, and fats that help me to continually push my body to its limits. On top of the supplements, I also continually stretch and use my foam roller to tend to the hot spots and make sure that they are relaxed so they do not become an injury. Paying attention to how your body is reacting to the conditions of your exercise is key in knowing how to do what is necessary. One piece of advice that I can give is to listen to your body, put your ego aside, and ask questions so that you can get the best advice to keep yourself healthy and active!

Focus T25 Day 33 of 70 – July 26, 2013

Focus T25 Day 33 of 70 – Alpha Phase – July 26, 2013

Morning Weigh-in: 166
Breakfast: AcidCheck Caplets, Activit, Cordastra, Replenex, Vitality Coldwater Omega 3, and Vanilla Shakeology
Lunch: 1/2 Turkey and Avocado Sandwich on Dark Wheat Bread, 5 oz Pasta Salad

Dinner: Birthday Party Faire – Tri Tip Slider, 2 Pollo Verde Tacos (flour tortilla), 7 Layer Dip, Vegetables, Chips, Salsa, Dips, Birthday Cake (Way too much Birthday Cake!)

Over-ate at dinner. Done in by Smith’s Bakery again. Too many Birthday cakes this month! I had never had their yellow cake before, and with the chocolate frosting, mmmm… That with some coffee and I was a very happy kid. I also got some time in on my rumble roller, which is always nice for sore muscle recovery – got a few hot spots rolled out! Painful but nice nonetheless. Needless to say, I definitely was carbo-loading and since I didn’t get a workout in, I’ll have to get that done tomorrow, maybe even add in some other fun sports as well 😉 !

Good nutrition this morning but ate really late and had to pull a drive through. Felt bad about it. Tomorrow is a double workout. Doesn’t make it right. The chicken I wanted was sold out. Tomorrow I’ll do better!

Training was good. Hit the Cardio workout hard and then ran immediately after for a fast mile. Ran as fast as I possibly could. Felt really good and light! Love Focus T25!
