Today was a great day with the kids! Fun with blocks and cars and then we went to see the The Lego Movie. So great! What a neat movie! If it had not have been a good movie, there is no way I could have sat through it with as loud with kids it was. Thank you for being a good one!
I have decided to keep posting my diet but I will try to reel it in a bit. I know just because I need to eat more calories than most people, I can eat good quality calories. Since I am starting a new week tomorrow. I will do my best to eat better and cleaner! But if I am going to do it, then I need some people to do it with me. Who else wants to eat a little better with me?

Any takers? I’d love to see you respond here on this blog!

Workout this morning was awesome. I had never attempted a Pilates workout before, but I can say I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the workout and how it pushed my range of motion. Very cool. CVX right after just put me over the edge for the day. Such a great way to push me out of my comfort zone. I am getting to like these double days. Maybe I am on to something here.

Today was also Daddy Daughter Dance night at my daughter’s school. Such a proud Daddy!
Daddy Daughter Dance 2014

So much fun dancing and eating leftover cupcakes :-). Thanks Mom! 🙂 Just one more reason to keep working out right? We finished the evening off with watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympic Games in Sochi. This will be the first Winter Olympics Addison will remember. And of course she fell asleep 🙂 Addison Sleeping

I remember my first Winter Olympics. 1980, Lake Placid, Eric Heiden’s 5 Gold Medals, Team USA’s Miracle on Ice and Gold Medal Finish, Classic Olympics. Sweet Dreams!

Next, I found out that the Olympics actually started tonight! I absolutely love the Olympics. Even though the US coverage gets a bit political when we go into countries that have different generally accepted world progressive views like Russia, but overall the tone is set by the athletes. I hope the coverage just gets out what they have to say and then lets it lay as the athletes do what they came to the Olympics to do. There I said it, getting off the soap box. So in celebration of the unofficial start to the Olympic Games, Anna and I made a feast and enjoyed it!

P90X3 Pilates X got postponed and will be part of a Double Workout tomorrow! Definitely a day to work off some extra calories! Wish me luck!

Wednesdays are decent schedule day with the kids yet I still barely made my workout. Good thing it was only 30 minutes! Kicked my butt too! By the end of this Cardio-murder it has you doing Donkey Kicks with a kick through. Yeah, that just about killed me. I took a video of part of the workout. I was doing Speed Skaters. Not a very entertaining video, but I’ll post it here anyway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R0-iWuG7kA&feature=youtube_gdata_player Just looked and found out I’ll be doing Pilates tomorrow. I think I am going to get my butt kicked tomorrow again too!

Isometrix and Dynamix

P90X3 Day 22 and 23 of 90 – Feb. 4, 2014

(Double Day)
Morning Weigh-in:
 N/A
Breakfast: AcidCheck CapletsActivitSlimming Formula, Cordastra, and Chocolate Vegan Shakeology, Coffee
Workout: Isometrix and Dynamix added AcidCheck Granules and Pink Himalayan Salt to Water
Post-Workout: P90X Results & Recovery Formula
Lunch: Turkey and Kale with Swiss on an Herb Ciabatta
Dinner: Shrimp Fajitas, Fiesta Rice, and Pot Beans with Corn Tortillas, Chips, Salsa, and Guacamole
Snack: Root Beer and Chocolate Cookies

I had no idea what I was getting in to this more with Isometrix, all I knew is that it was on the same DVD as Dynamix. Dynamix is a dynamic stretching sequence which I really like. It gets you sweating which is something I never really thought of doing before in a stretching situation, but now it totally makes sense. Stretching should be work, otherwise, you really aren’t stretching. So I thought that Dynamix would be no big deal after doing  the new workout. Wrong. Isometrix was 30 minutes of yoga type static positioning. Wow! That was some serious work then to have dynamic stretching after and still be a little sore from the last double on Saturday. All I can say is, my quads were on fire! They almost hurt as bad as the end of the 4th day skiing at #WhistlerRaid2014

Ryan Whistler

Ahh Whistler……

Anyway, I worked really hard at keeping the nutrition in play today. I even changed what I usually order at my kids’ favorite Mexican Restaurant and went with the Shrimp Fajitas. Super spicy and oh so yummy too! Almost made it, but my sweet tooth got the best of me. Just proves that I am much better off without having the sweets within reach. If I don’t have them in the house, I won’t eat them!

I was a bit alarmed today when my daughter was brought to me riding the back of her Gym Coach in the middle of practice. She slightly pulled her Achilles tendon. No fun for her. At least she didn’t snap the thing. That would have been a little too much to handle :-\ . Just happy that she listened to suggestion after and let it get iced, massaged, and she even spent a little time on the Rumbleroller and her brother joined in too!

Kids on Rumblerollers

Good stuff! I love those kids! Time for me to hit the Rumbleroller myself!

Super Bowl Weekend 2014

P90X3 Day 20, 21, and 22 of 90 – Feb 3, 2014

I didn’t weigh myself all weekend until today. Looks like this Super Bowl Weekend got the best of me. Weighing in at 173 this morning was a bit eye opening so here are my best excuses for gaining a pound a day:

1.    It must have been all of the sodium.
2.    Oh, it must have been those cookies.
3.    Or, maybe the ice cream?
4.    Definitely water weight. Yeah definitely.
5.    It’ll come off as easy as it went on.
6.    The miles come off when you drive in reverse?
7.    I am never eating like that again!
8.    At least I am just in my first 30 days of P90X3.
9.    I sure do love food!
10.  Ok, now that that is out of the way…..

Let’s get down to business. The triathlon season starts in 3 weeks. Time for me to lean out and work though these next couple of months on P90X3 and get the season off to a rolling start. Many of my friends are having a clean eating challenge for the next 2 months. I think I am going to join them. Eating whatever I want sure doesn’t always feel great. So I am in to eating healthier. Sound like a plan?

Most of my days included:
Breakfast: AcidCheck CapletsActivitSlimming Formula, Cordastra, and Vanilla Shakeology, Coffee
Lunch: Salad with Chicken
Saturday’s Workout: Added AcidCheck Granules and Pink Himalayan Salt to Water
Dinner: Big caloric meals
Dessert: All of it!

So on Saturday I did a double workout CVX and The Warrior. Wow was I sore yesterday! I got in the Dynamix workout last night and then did some foam rolling with the rumbleroller. Today I got a bit busy and missed a workout. Figured I would pick up a double while the kids are in school.

Speaking of the kids, I am very happy to be taking care of them this week. They mean the world to me. And even though they are a few handfuls from time to time, I love them with all of my heart. Right now I know they are dealing with a bunch and they are still young. Now I am not one to ask for prayers and have traditionally been very quiet when it comes to my religious beliefs, however if you are reading this and have a minute, could you please take a moment of silence, think some happy thoughts, send positive energy, pray to whomever or whatever you believe in, or whatever it is you do, please do so for my kids’ Grandma “Tootsie” so that she is rid of cancer and anything else that wishes to harm her. The doctor’s are doing what they can, but she could use just a little more help. Thank you!

Recovery is the Best Policy

P90X3 Day 19 of 90 – Jan 31, 2014

Morning Weigh-in: 169
Breakfast: AcidCheck CapletsActivitSlimming Formula, Cordastra, and Vanilla Shakeology, Coffee
Lunch: Turkey and Kael with Swiss on a Grain Ciabatta, Coffee
Dinner: Pepperoni Pizza and Mineral Water
Snack: Popcorn and Root Beer
Workout: Rumbleroller Stretching

No workout today. Took a Recovery Day after yesterday’s The Challenge! Wow! Looking to do a double tomorrow instead. Yeah I know. Nuts right? I did get to spend a little time on the rumble roller after the kids went to bed though. So that was good. MAN, I hate/love that thing! It’s so good at getting the tight spots worked out! Its important to keep the body moving because the kids are at my place this weekend. Can I tell you how happy I am to have the kids this weekend? I love them so much! I live for these times! I hope you all have a great weekend! I know ours is going to be fun!

Meeting The Challenge

P90X3 Day 18 of 90 – Jan 30, 2014

Morning Weigh-in: 168
Breakfast: AcidCheck CapletsActivitSlimming Formula, Cordastra, and Vanilla Shakeology, Coffee
Lunch: Salad with Chicken
Workout: The Challenge added AcidCheck Granules and Pink Himalayan Salt to Water
Dinner: Chocolate Vegan Shakeology mixed with Almond Milk and AcidCheck Granules
Snack: Pretzels, 2 Root Beers, Piece of Cheese

The day started out with a nice morning rain. I love it when it rains in the Valley. It settles the smog and the air smells nice! I got to see my son play flag football this evening. So proud of him, he played the best he has played the whole season! He even got a little extracurricular on one of the plays and got hit with a tackling call. It was really more of a push, but the kid went down pretty quick, and a flag was thrown. His team ended up scoring more points, but I think all of the kids had a really good time!

After the football game I came home and got in my workout a bit late which ended up awesome setting a Personal Record in P90X3: The Challenge! Big jump for sure. Been working at 25 pull-downs / 20 push-ups the past 2 weeks and have not been hitting the push-ups without dropping to my knees to pump out the last few. So today I decided to up my weight and reps by 5 each on the pull-downs and somehow ended up doing all of the push-ups in the plank position; none from the knees! I just felt stronger in my core this evening. Perhaps it was from all the skiing last week? Who knows? All I know is I am freaking ecstatic right now!

I hadn’t weighed myself in a week, but when I did Tuesday morning I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was down to 168. I guess 4 days of skiing 6 hours a day at  #WhistlerRaid2014 was enough to keep me headed in the right direction. And what an amazing trip it was with so many awesome guys! Friendship, Food, and Fun, but as fun as it was to be with friends and eat amazing food, it was even more awesome to be back with my kiddos. Nothing better than being with them by far! Addison had Gym and Davis had Flag Football after both doing homework. Good times! Talk about an energetic duo! Can’t wait to see them this weekend!

Today was another great day! I weighed in at 168 again and had a fairly good protein lunch! X3 Yoga hit the spot and then it was off for date night at our favorite Mexican Restaurant – El Patio. The Fajitas always hit the spot and the Ceviche is so amazing too!

Glad to be back on the program! Looking forward to expanding the triathlon training next week!
