Happy New Year 2014

New Year’s Day 2014 and time to set those New Year’s Resolutions in motion. We all have a clean slate today and this is the day we take the first step towards achieving our goals. Whatever you want to achieve is possible as long as you are willing to do the work. Luckily for you, the work doesn’t have to be difficult. Take each day as it comes by completing at least one action that will bring you closer to that goal. Sound easy? It is. And I know it is however 2013 was one of those years that found me procrastinating. I got comfortable. And comfortable is stagnant. The only way I am going to progress in life is to push myself out of my comfort zone and complete the actions that are going to allow me move forward to help the people in my life. That’s why this year I am dedicating myself to organization, anti-procrastination, and making the most of every day I can wake up and make a difference. I have the responsibility to be a positive influence in the lives of my kids, family, friends, and anyone I may be lucky enough to meet along the way. Join me in making 2014 count for ourselves and for the countless people who are hungry for life and all that it has to offer. Join me in helping anyone and everyone we come in contact with to have a brighter day. Join me in being a beacon of hope for those people who have lost the motivation and accountability necessary to take control of their lives. This is our year to shine. Are you with me?

Boy did I blow this personal Christmas Crunch challenge. Shopping, staying up late to wrap presents, and holiday treat temptations have gotten the best of me for sure. Not practicing good sleeping habits is bad enough, but when you add in confectionery indulgences and skipping a couple days of working out, it starts to add up. Super bummed I missed going for a bike ride today, the weather was beautiful but the day was completely packed full of family activities. So I am planning on getting on the bike tomorrow at some point; its been too long!

Focus T25 Beta Phase Day 32 of 35 – Dec 12, 2013

Focus T25 Beta Phase Day 32 of 35Dec 12, 2013

It’s been almost a week since I have posted so I thought I would try to catch up on my Accountability Posts. Its been pretty dormant and not prioritized as it should be but somehow I manage to get in the workout at one point or another. Looking forward to this Christmas break has more of my attention and focus preparing more for those vacation days at this point. There will be some much needed family skiing time as well as some personal high altitude training. So in the interest of regurgitating similar daily dietary intake, workout, and daily activities, here is a typical day for the past week:
Morning Weigh-in: 171 Average
Breakfast: AcidCheck Caplets, Activit, Slimming Formula, Cordastra, and Vanilla Shakeology with Cinnamon, Coffee
Pre-Workout: Energy and Endurance Formula
Workout:  Focus T25 (Some Workout) added AcidCheck Granules and Pink Himalayan Salt to Water
Post-Workout: P90X Results & Recovery Formula
Lunch: A Sandwich or a Salad with Chicken
Dinner: Pasta or Pizza, some Meat, something Vegetable,
Desert: Ice Cream or Popsicles or Cookies or Cereal

And thats about it. No cycling, no swimming, no running. Fairly boring, yet highly productive.

This time of year is super busy. School events. Family events. Kids sports. Vacations. You name it! Personally I like the figuring out of what to buy as presents for the different people in my life. Obviously the actual purchase of the gift does not come until December 24th if you are a real man. Thats why my shopping will be done on the 23rd! 😉 No, but seriously, no more procrastination. Time to put waiting aside and get that shopping done. Really. What is the point of waiting until the last minute to do something. If you just get it done you can do the next thing that much quicker. And if the next thing is what you really want to do in the first place, well why the hell aren’t you making it a priority to get that first thing done! Its really as simple as that. Alright now get motivated and go do something you need to do!

The kids loved helping with the decorations. So happy that we got to do that today! Good stuff!

Hecka-crazy workout this morning! I completed a tough Focus T25 Core session and then got on the bike and rode out to meet with the Tuesday Lunch Ride. Turns out that there were only going to be two riders today. I can honestly say that I almost puked today towards the end of the ride. My guess is that I was coming off a caloric deficit from yesterday and really didn’t have much besides Shakeology and Supplements and Coffee in my system. I was bonking hard so my best guess is it was basically a blood sugar thing brought on by the high caloric demand of sharing the lead pulling duties (we leap-frogged as much as possible so neither of us were resting all that much). It was a rough ride for me personally and I never really got into a rhythm. One productive workout though!

Back from the Thanksgiving Weekend. And yes I did workout on Thanksgiving. And no I did not workout on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, thank you very much. And I never posted because I was having too much fun with my family. My brother, his wife, and their kids were in town, so it was great to be together with them and share in festive times!

Back to the training —- I think today I was responsible in my nutrition right up until Dessert. However even that was executed with care. I substituted frozen yogurt for the ice cream. Unfortunately I also was given the duty of eating the leftover yogurt. Because frozen yogurt just is not as good after its been in the freezer for a significant amount of time. Right? Good thing I ate salads today! Regardless, I had a great workout. The exercises were executed well and I feel great mostly just to be moving again! I get restless when I don’t train. Hope to go for a bike ride tomorrow!

Today was a “Clean the House” day! Managed to get in one of my favorite workouts. Ran out of time to get on the bike. Didn’t eat the best either. Not good to push off the meals like I have the past two days. I am sure I’ll make up for it tomorrow at Thanksgiving!

Spent the day with the kids at school, climbing at Vert Rock Gym, and then having a Pizza Picnic on the floor! Priceless Day. Finished it off with a great Upper Body workout session, a hodge podge meal, and some of the best news I have heard in a while! Action Sports is going to host the Bakersfield Marathon! This got me so excited! I have never done a marathon before and I am so excited that I put together a group on Facebook (Bakersfield 26.2) for people to come together, talk about training, share fitness secrets, and just show each other general support for the upcoming event on November 16th, 2014. Yes that is a little less than a year away, but for some people, this will be their first, and I am making it my job to help whomever I may get ready for it and finish it with me!

I missed eating today. Schedule was off but I loved every minute of it. Woke up to the Back-store Neighbor’s puppy in my pool (she is a cute golden retriever). This threw off my entire day. I wanted to workout and get it out of the way, but that wsn’t going to happen. I still had my Shakeology at least and I was able to run in to Starbucks and get a House Coffee (not my regular Americano) on the way to my daughter’s class party. Her party was so much fun! When her class was out I went over to my son’s class and helped out until school got out. Then I helped my Mom with an errand, went to the pool for a quick swim, and then followed that up with my Focus T25 workout. Then I hurried to my son’s flag football practice. 🙂 Games start next week! After all of that I realized I had not eaten anything substantial since Breakfast. So worst thing to do would be to go and eat a huge meal, so I got a salad. A few hours later I ate another meal (if you could call it that). Basically just catching up the calories. Do yourself a favor and don’t do the same to yourself. Eat your meals regularly throughout the day. Plan better. And if you can’t plan, at least stop and get the most sensible thing on the menu somewhere along your travels. 🙂
