Today was a great day which started out with my daughter’s swim practice. My son and I had fun watching (He said that he wants to do it too so he can get better like her. She wants to do Gymnastics next. SO I guess I’ll be purchasing a leotard or something like that soon! I love that my kids want to be active 🙂 !
Started the second week of Focus T25 Beta Phase with Dynamic Core. This workout sneaks up on you and makes you work hard. After that workout I headed out for a 27 mile bike ride in some pretty hot weather with light wind. I turned out my third best time ever for a 20 mile segment despite a little issue with a case of sour stomach. I have been using the AcidCheck Caplets which will most likely save me from some serious burning muscles tomorrow, but I ran out of AcidCheck Granules to put into my water 🙂 No bueno! I got out on the bike about 5 miles in and could feel the water sitting in my stomach, which just kept me from drinking more water. Then halfway into the ride I ate a Citrus Flavored Clif Shot Energy Gel. I quickly began to feel a burning sensation in my stomach and was acid burping. Something I have not felt since December of 2011 when I used to eat Zantac every day (before Shakeology). I have taken the Citrus Flavored Clif Shot before and it was OK (I prefer plain flavored GU Energy Gel when training). The only thing I did differently was I didn’t take the AcidCheck Granules. Thankfully my shipment is coming in tomorrow and I’ll have some for my race this weekend. I don’t ever want to train or race again without AcidCheck in my water. I seriously can’t recommend anything more than Acid Check when you are working out. It helps that much!
Yoga and Carbo-Loading – Two of my favorite things in the whole world! Well at least I tolerate the Yoga – Its good for me! Tomorrow morning is a light workout – running, cycling, and swimming – followed by some serious foam rolling! Triathlon on Saturday!
Decided to make today a Rest Day to allow for some Recovery after yesterday’s run. However along the lines of running, I took my kids to go see the Color Me Rad 5k at the Kern County Fairgrounds. Talk about a crazy time. It was fun and I am seriously thinking about doing it next year with the kids! Here is a pic I took:
Regarding my workout, it’s supposed to be a P90X2 P.A.P. Upper Body workout, but I switched it up by doing some Insanity: The Asylum Relief to stretch out instead. Tomorrow is a regularly scheduled rest day. Since I didn’t workout today I’ll probably do an active workout. I hope you all are having a great President’s Day Weekend!
Decided to put a good run effort in today instead of P90X2 Lower Body workout. I ran the Bakersfield Triathlon Run Course. It’s supposed to be 10k but Strava.com tracked it at 6.7 miles. Either way, I am happy with my performance today. It’s the fastest I believe I have run that course to date. And it is HILLY! My race next weekend is completely flat and mostly on asphalt, so after today’s run, I can’t wait to see how that goes!
Here is a picture of the Lake when I started (a bit windy out there):

As I said, today was going to be a big training day. Start out great with X2 P.A.P. (Post-Activation Potentiation) Lower and Upper Body this time. Then I got to get a late afternoon ride, or chasing the sun as I call it. Just enough time to get in a quick one before the sun went down. I wish I would have brought my gloves with me.
I went for a mid-morning ride today. Rode 27 Miles and it felt really good. Nice to see my times coming down. Despite my glutes feeling like a Rottweiler was chomping down every time I pedaled towards the end, I think that all of those Convict Step-ups were totally worth it. Worked out late again this evening too! X2 P.A.P. (Post-Activation Potentiation) Upper Body this time. This workout is designed for Sports Performance and focuses on the upper body like the name says. Again it had me sweating 4 minutes in and it is definitely a good work out. I definitely need to get this workout in before dinner next time.
Worked out late this evening! X2 P.A.P. (Post-Activation Potentiation) Lower Body. This workout is designed for Sports Performance. It had me sweating 4 minutes in and I loved every minute of it. Phase Three is where I am going to stay for the next 6 weeks. I am excited to see how this is going to help prepare me for the first race of the season on February 23rd.
