Project New Year – Day 54, 55, and 56 – Ryan Out

This may not be the post you were expecting to see from me, but here it goes. Seems to be a trend that I don’t blog on the weekends. Lots of stuff happens on the weekends and I just don’t seem to get to it. This weekend it has been especially tough to swallow. Friday I was thankfully busy with the kids and their school activities. They are so awesome! Since I had a Time Trial on Saturday the kids stayed with my parents. My parents and the kids always seem to enjoy their time together. I had some conditioning to take care of, so it all worked out. The time trial went well. Somehow I set a personal best even though I hadn’t eaten anything but Shakeology since Thursday night (2 Shakes on Friday and one Saturday morning before the race). Emotionally I am a wreck. Financially I am nonexistent. But physically somehow I am enduring even though I know at some point if I keep going like this, surely that will fail as well. Even though it may not seem like it on the surface or through my Facebook feed, I have been avoiding something for a while. I have not been taking care of me and there is nothing of me left to give. I am tapped out. I am sorry if I am letting anyone down but I need to stop this charade. I am not happy. I am not doing well.

And I am done putting on that facade. I had every intention of taking this thing through 120 Days and I may very well complete it, but if I do, I am going to do it for me and no one else as it should be. Life is hard. Being a dad is hard. Being a good ex-husband is hard. Being a significant-other is hard. Success is hard. Getting in shape is hard. Staying in shape is hard. Eating healthy is hard. Being accountable is hard. If you can do it and you really want it, anything is possible. But if you don’t take care of yourself and do the things you need to do to provide a stable foundation for yourself and for the people you love and care about, it can all come crumbling down when the balance gets too far off. Unfortunately, sometimes that crash comes a bit too late and everything you have worked for is suddenly gone or just out of reach. I guess that is where I am right now. Starting over from the beginning.

I apologize to everyone I have let down over the past few years. I thought I was doing what I needed to be doing but apparently that was not the case. I don’t blame any of you for jumping ship, not doing the things I may have asked you to do, or even not wanting to be involved in what I was so excited about sharing with you. I get it. I mean the stuff I do really does work. Health and Fitness wise I have never been in better shape. Mentally and Financially I was never ready to let it work as it has worked for so many of my friends and mentors. And that is where I have failed so many of the people who were closest to me. I am somewhere underneath all of the rubble and it is time to start digging my way out.

I am going to take some time away. Not exactly sure what that means yet, but it is my intention to come back strong and ready to help those people that are ready to accept my help and do what it takes to get to where they want to be. I am not giving up. I know it is possible. We just have to be ready to make it happen for ourselves without any reservations. So for now this is my last blog post. Workout this morning was awesome. I had never attempted a Pilates workout before, but I can say I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the workout and how it pushed my range of motion. Very cool. CVX right after just put me over the edge for the day. Such a great way to push me out of my comfort zone. I am getting to like these double days. Maybe I am on to something here.

Today was also Daddy Daughter Dance night at my daughter’s school. Such a proud Daddy!

So much fun dancing and eating leftover cupcakes :-). Thanks Mom! 🙂 Just one more reason to keep working out right? We finished the evening off with watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympic Games in Sochi. This will be the first Winter Olympics Addison will remember. And of course she fell asleep 🙂 Addison Sleeping

Dinner: Spicy Italian Sausage with Caramelized Onion and Sweet Peppers with Marinara Sauce topped with Mozzarella on a toasted French Roll (1 1/2 Servings)
Snack: Popcorn, Chocolate Chip Cookie and Peanut Butter Sandwich (Rich!) with Milk

The day started out with great news! Falco Bikes has 35 Falco V frames in the queue for paint! Such great news! The Falco V is going to be my bike for the 2014 Triathlon Season and I can’t wait till it gets here to the States in a few weeks!

Next, I found out that the Olympics actually started tonight! I absolutely love the Olympics. Even though the US coverage gets a bit political when we go into countries that have different generally accepted world progressive views like Russia, but overall the tone is set by the athletes. I hope the coverage just gets out what they have to say and then lets it lay as the athletes do what they came to the Olympics to do. There I said it, getting off the soap box. So in celebration of the unofficial start to the Olympic Games, Anna and I made a feast and enjoyed it!

Isometrix and Dynamix

P90X3 Day 22 and 23 of 90 – Feb. 4, 2014

I had no idea what I was getting in to this more with Isometrix, all I knew is that it was on the same DVD as Dynamix. Dynamix is a dynamic stretching sequence which I really like. It gets you sweating which is something I never really thought of doing before in a stretching situation, but now it totally makes sense. Stretching should be work, otherwise, you really aren’t stretching. So I thought that Dynamix would be no big deal after doing  the new workout. Wrong. Isometrix was 30 minutes of yoga type static positioning. Wow! That was some serious work then to have dynamic stretching after and still be a little sore from the last double on Saturday. All I can say is, my quads were on fire! They almost hurt as bad as the end of the 4th day skiing at #WhistlerRaid2014

Anyway, I worked really hard at keeping the nutrition in play today. I even changed what I usually order at my kids’ favorite Mexican Restaurant and went with the Shrimp Fajitas. Super spicy and oh so yummy too! Almost made it, but my sweet tooth got the best of me. Just proves that I am much better off without having the sweets within reach. If I don’t have them in the house, I won’t eat them!

I was a bit alarmed today when my daughter was brought to me riding the back of her Gym Coach in the middle of practice. She slightly pulled her Achilles tendon. No fun for her. At least she didn’t snap the thing. That would have been a little too much to handle :-\ . Just happy that she listened to suggestion after and let it get iced, massaged, and she even spent a little time on the Rumbleroller and her brother joined in too!

I hadn’t weighed myself in a week, but when I did Tuesday morning I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was down to 168. I guess 4 days of skiing 6 hours a day at  #WhistlerRaid2014 was enough to keep me headed in the right direction. And what an amazing trip it was with so many awesome guys! Friendship, Food, and Fun, but as fun as it was to be with friends and eat amazing food, it was even more awesome to be back with my kiddos. Nothing better than being with them by far! Addison had Gym and Davis had Flag Football after both doing homework. Good times! Talk about an energetic duo! Can’t wait to see them this weekend!

Today was another great day! I weighed in at 168 again and had a fairly good protein lunch! X3 Yoga hit the spot and then it was off for date night at our favorite Mexican Restaurant – El Patio. The Fajitas always hit the spot and the Ceviche is so amazing too!

Glad to be back on the program! Looking forward to expanding the triathlon training next week!

Just wanted you all to know that I am taking a week off of P90X3. IJjust arrived in Whistler, BC for a 6 day ski trip with a great group of Beachbody Coaches. This week will be full of priceless moments that will help me be a better coach, period. I cant wait to get back and work with people who want to make a positive change I need their lives! It’s been almost a week since I have posted so I thought I would try to catch up on my Accountability Posts. Its been pretty dormant and not prioritized as it should be but somehow I manage to get in the workout at one point or another. Looking forward to this Christmas break has more of my attention and focus preparing more for those vacation days at this point. There will be some much needed family skiing time as well as some personal high altitude training. So in the interest of regurgitating similar daily dietary intake, workout, and daily activities, here is a typical day for the past week:
Morning Weigh-in: 171 Average
Breakfast: AcidCheck Caplets, Activit, Slimming Formula, Cordastra, and Vanilla Shakeology with Cinnamon, Coffee
Pre-Workout: Energy and Endurance Formula
Workout:  Focus T25 (Some Workout) added AcidCheck Granules and Pink Himalayan Salt to Water
Post-Workout: P90X Results & Recovery Formula
Lunch: A Sandwich or a Salad with Chicken
Dinner: Pasta or Pizza, some Meat, something Vegetable,
Desert: Ice Cream or Popsicles or Cookies or Cereal

And thats about it. No cycling, no swimming, no running. Fairly boring, yet highly productive.

This time of year is super busy. School events. Family events. Kids sports. Vacations. You name it! Personally I like the figuring out of what to buy as presents for the different people in my life. Obviously the actual purchase of the gift does not come until December 24th if you are a real man. Thats why my shopping will be done on the 23rd! 😉 No, but seriously, no more procrastination. Time to put waiting aside and get that shopping done. Really. What is the point of waiting until the last minute to do something. If you just get it done you can do the next thing that much quicker. And if the next thing is what you really want to do in the first place, well why the hell aren’t you making it a priority to get that first thing done! Its really as simple as that. Alright now get motivated and go do something you need to do!
