Upper Elite is a crazy upper body workout. Definitely left me knowing where I am weakest. This workout is long on push-ups. Seriously, Shaun T is killing me with the push-ups. I felt my arms get larger and my body being pulled by gravity with greater intensity by the second. Don’t be afraid to finish the round doing push-ups from your knees, just finish and get better every time. I did the last 20 from mine this time. Next time only the last 10 🙂

Today was a good training day the X Trainer workout is an all body workout, strength for the upper body and more speed and agility for the legs. The TriCore Workout 9 gets a little longer than the previous 8 and works on Hill riding, sprints and climbs. Legs feel good!

*Added another snack. Carbo loading this week during Asylum 2. Starting this weekend I’ll begin to taper and drop some of the weight I am gaining. Oreos are all gone and I am not buying anymore!

Today was an Insanity: The Asylum Volume 2 – Rest Day and a TriCore Rest Day. But as you may have guessed, I am not one for resting completely very often. So I decided to go for a  ride during he heat of the day. I just wanted to get some time in the saddle. As close to real cycling as the EVOcx may feel, there is no substitute for gravity, the road, cornering, heat, and wind. Even with the heat and light winds, my lungs felt great. Very happy with that. And for not pushing it today (partially because I couldn’t due to jelly legs from yesterday’s workout) I ended up turning out some decent speeds. Looking forward to getting in to Week 2 tomorrow!

Crazy workout today. Championship takes exercises that are based on different sports like Track, Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, Speed Skating, Basketball, and Football and leads you through game like scenarios. This makes the workout fun while it kills you! Then Sudden Death Overtime takes you into a series where you measure your fitness. There is a series of movements through the Agility Ladder that you are supposed to count and track improvement over the 4 weeks. I did 7 this week. Pushing for 9 next week!

After the Asylum workout I got onto my EVOcx and did a spin workout totaling 10 miles in 30 minutes. Fun stuff! Tomorrow is a rest day, but I’ll be getting onto my bike and going for a ride!

My calories have been a little low for the past couple of days. Right now with the workouts I’ve been doing, I should be gaining weight, not staying even. Decided to up the calories to see how I feel. I do want to get gain a little more muscle in my upper body but not too much. I need the additional strength for my swimming, but too much weight can slow me down on my run, so the balancing act between upper body strength and overall body weight ensues!

Ah yes leg workout day! My wheelhouse! Still I was feeling the burn in the squat and lunge kettle-bell sequence. I don’t have dumbbells so I used a medicine ball. Worked for me! Followed the Asylum workout up with the Tri-Core workout. That definitely put the dot under the exclamation point. My legs were done after that!

The upper body workout killed me today. I am so happy that I did Focus T25 before this program. I think it is saving me right now from being completely obliterated. I WILL be a better athlete when I am done with the first round of this program. It’s no joke!

Crazy workout this evening! Getting into a new program can always take a little longer than expected. Insanity: The Asylum Volume 2 is a highly technical program designed for Elite Training. It took me some time to get the hang of the footwork but then again it wouldn’t be worth doing if it wasn’t challenging. Challenging is describing it lightly. Yes I am a glutton for punishment. But wow do I feel amazing right now!

Workout:  Focus T25 Stretch and TriCore Rest Day (Self Imposed)
So thats it for me! I finished the Beta Phase of Focus T25. It has been a great 11 weeks (I took one week off due to asthma attack 🙁 ). The is another phase, Gamma, which I could do. It focuses on Strength. This would be beneficial to me, but I like to save real strength training for the off season. It reduces the chances of sports injury from over-training. Instead, I decided to go the way of Sports Performance training and opted for Insanity: The Asylum Vol. 2 . I have heard really good things about this program and I am hoping that it will continue to build on my Speed and Agility which has been helping me bring my running times down without actually having to run. Even though that will change over the next three weeks (adding more running and swimming on BowSwim into my training) as I prepare for the Bakersfield Tri, I am looking forward to having Shaun T kick my butt for longer than 25 Minutes a Day now. Focus T25 Day 69 of 70 – Beta Phase – September 7, 2013

Since today was a rest day for both Focus T25 and TriCore, it worked out perfectly for the triathlon today. My Rest Day workout consisted of a 400 meter swim, a 10 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run 🙂 I had said that I wanted to set a personal record for the course, so since they changed the course for this race, turns out I set a PR and also posted the second fastest individual time of the day and took first in my age group. (Race Results) Its great when you can have fun and do well in a race. Thats what its all about right there!
